    • I’m just waiting for the Bethesda excuse to come out. And yes, I’m labeling it the Bethesda excuse. “You see. If I tell my kid we’re going to Disneyland that weekend, and then I get sick, and say I can’t take you there this weekend, they should understand that I didn’t lie. And that analogy is completely like advertising features of a product, which were taken as part of a monetary transaction (where they buy it for the reason of said features), and then taking those features away only after they bought the product, then claim no refunds. Exactly the same thing.” But the real problem, just as I said way back when they first advertised it, is that they made promises they couldn’t make. They made promises about companies, and ISPs, that they don’t control nor have any monetary influence over. I might as well promise that a random mid-western restaurant will give everybody a 40% discount, next Wednesday, I promise.

  • they always use teraflops. that's one component to hardware. you don't just put more teraflops on there and now your superior. not how it works. stop using the ignorant media as your marketing tool so they can go off and brag about numbers that they don't understand and that ultimately doesn't mean anything. you could pair a titan with a pentium g4560 and 4 gb of ram and focus just on the titan in your marketing of the system. but your rig is still worse than a mid - upper range build that has a 2060 super and a core i5 10600k and 16 gb of ram. and of course google knows that idiots don't know that so they will focus on one thing and ignore that the fucking thing doesn't even work in the first place.

  • FP32 performance (measured in Teraflops, etc) is a really bad way of measuring gaming performance. Console manufacturers use it to pull the wool over people’s eyes who don’t know any better. If Tflops was the end all performance metric, the 3090 would be 3x faster than a 6800XT, and it’s not even remotely close to that. More like 10-15%

  • I knew the 4K claims were BS on day one. I’ve been gaming at resolutions beyond 4K for a decade (technically 5760x1080 at 120hz which is more resource intensive than 4K60, I always had between 2-4 GPUs) even the best of the best hardware struggles at 4K60 in some of the latest games. Stadia isn’t rocking 2080 Ti’s on every server, so it’s obvious to anyone with extensive experience in high res gaming and PC hardware Stadia was full of it

  • My opinion is that it's not problem with Stadia hardware running games at 4k; it's bandwidth problem. Internet connections all over are relatively poor quality for 4k streaming gaming where you need huge bandwidth, minimal ping and 100% stable connection. And only direct optic connection can provide that. In US, only around 30% of population has option to connect to optic fiber (doesn't mean they all have it) and it's like that only in major cities.

They immediately shut me down and called me killjoy, rodeo, idiot, paranoid, fear-monger, etc. Now it's proven that those 2 products are pretty much in the same category: overhyped failure, and I can only drink their tears. It's clear to me now why the majority of today's entertainment industry is declining in quality. Today's consoomer culture is the main thing that supports this kind of unethical business move.

  • Erh... No dude... The problem with Stadia isn't their hardware capabilities but their streaming, data throughput and sustainablitity through the various ISP's operators' bandwidth. The problem with streaming 4K 60 FPS is that you would need a *SYMMETRICAL* , sustained 40mbps upload and download speed to guarantee the least amount of lag akin to what fighting games online player expect to deal with. Problem is that most, if not all. ISPs out there never provide symmetrical access so Stadia's service was doomed to fail just for that. Nobody says they didn't lie through their teeth though as their claims were complete fabrications and unfeasible from the getgo. Exactly how MS touted that the _"incredible power of the cloud"_ would help render Crackdown in real time. Some 3D and graphics rendering companies are currently using that same BS.

  • Hey yong! At the end of the day it doesn't matter if Stadia truly lied or not, its about public perception. Even if something is worded such that its not actually a lie, the way the average consumer would interpret the ad or statement, is what actually determines false advertising. IE. Even with the statement "UP TO 4K"; if it is worded or presented in such a way that the average consumer is lead to believe they are receiving TRUE 4k on every title.. it is still considered false advertisement. TL;DR Consumer perception matters more than actual intent. Misleading advertising is still false advertising by law.

I'll take the steam copy any day, yes it require space but who cares? I can copy the game to an external storage and just uninstall the game anytime and put back the game from my external drive anytime to play again. and most games didn't even have 4k support, so they are just now upscaling the game? • 8k 120 fps is +- 90Gbps That's about double the bandwidth of the brand-new HDMI 2.1. It's about 12 times what 802.11ac can do. I'll admit, this surprised me- it's about 60 times what your ethernet cable can do. So, unless you want to run a fiber optic cable from their servers to your tv (not your router) (or a DisplayPort 2.0 cable- those were specifically designed for this) this isn't the future as in 'we'll bring the new tech to your house', it's the future as in 'it's not technically possible' right now. More perspective? A 3090 struggles to pull 20 fps at 8k.
